Description
This metal sculpture portrays what is known in Haiti as a Rara Band. Rara music is believed to be able to harness the power of Vodou spirit in order to portray widespread concerns and opinions. Rara Bands parade the streets of Haiti during the Lenten season, stopping at sites of religious importance, such as cemeteries, where they pause to honor their ancestors.
