This Monday, August 1, we are launching a one-week campaign to finish raising the funds needed to begin our next full-scale community water project and diminish the threat Cholera has placed on the lives of every resident in and around the area of Nan Plim, Haiti. We are asking you, and every other person we can reach, to make a $5 donation in support of the residents currently facing the disease. We are hoping, that within a single week, we can reach enough people to raise the remaining $3,200 (to completely fund the project). Please share this message with every one of your friends, colleagues, and family members, and mobilize them to also give $5. If enough of us come together and help spread the word, we will undoubtedly reach our goal.
Cholera surfaced in Haiti about 10 months ago, and, until now, had remained on the mainland. Two weeks ago, however, we confirmed it had arrived to La Gonave. The need for clean water has become incredibly urgent as several area residents have already died, including a midwife we worked with last March. By helping to provide access to clean water to the residents of Nan Plim, we can prevent further death, slow the spread of cholera, and reduce the spread of other water-born illnesses. At some point between Monday morning, August 1st, and Friday evening, August 5th, we hope to raise 100% of the funds needed to begin construction. Together we can save lives and help strengthen a community. Visit Roots’ campaign page at One Day’s Wages, to donate!
Once you’ve donated $5 yourself, please share news of this campaign (via Facebook, Twitter, Email, etc.) with everyone you know. $5 to save lives is not asking too much.
