Carnival in the Capital: 8 Reasons to Be Excited

Roots of Development’s 5th annual DC event, Carnival in the Capital, is quickly approaching! With June 29th just around the corner, here are eight (of  the many) things to look forward to in the coming week.

1. Masks
It’s not everyday that you get to wear a mask while mingling with some of DC’s most interesting people.

2. Drinks
Come wet your whistle with plenty of fun, island cocktails- all graciously donated by Diageo.

3. Project Updates
Sharing good news from Haiti is what it’s all about!

4. Music
You really don’t want to miss DJA RARA, the New York City-based Haitian Rara band. What is rara? Come find out!

5. Friends
Come reunite with old friends and meet new ones!

6. Food
The traditional Haitian menu will include classics such as griot, pikliz and, of course, delicious beignets.

7. This Guy
Ladies and gentleman, I present to you our Founder and Executive Director, Chad Bissonnette.

Come rub elbows with our many notable VIPs, such as Haiti’s ambassador to the U.S., Paul G. Altidor and Congressman John Conyers, Jr! For the networking opportunity of a lifetime, click here to purchase tickets for the VIP reception.

Tickets are still available on the Roots of Development website. We look forward to seeing you there!
