Why it's important

Sustainability is important to Roots of Development.  At the planning stage, sustainability means creating realistic programming that outlives its inception; programs and projects that go beyond themselves to other dynamic community projects.  Sustainable planning means involving as many different groups of people as possible to assure the complex dynamics in every community-based project are taken into account.  Roots is committed to providing our partners with the support to be able to develop this kind of far-reaching, effective sustainability in their projects.

Sustainability is essential to Roots of Development at the funding stage, too.  Roots takes consistent steps to keep organizational and operational costs as low as possible to be responsible administrators of financial resources.  Even more, sustainability is crucial to Roots’ mission to assure that the funding is predictable and consistent.  When Roots can count on our partners to build sustainability into their planning, we need to be able to count on our donors to build reliable, sustainable funding.  That’s why the Monthly Donors are such a vital part of Roots of Development’s vision and work.
